This is how cars burn on the side of the road! It's the source of the dead short. This harness has been mounted against the radiator support for the past 40 years. It wore through and grounded the main power wire. The alternator wire and the bulkhead stud feed-wire both melted.
My battery is in the trunk. The only way to stop the melt down is to disconnect the battery. The NHRA requires a switch outside the trunk to disconnect the battery. Mine worked perfectly! Damage? $10.00 and the loss of original wire and tape. Drat! All the other wires in the harness are OK!
